Q&A with Kéra Golombisky

What is your signature style?

My style is rooted in timelessness. From the poses I guide to the tones in my images, my goal is to create photographs that stand the test of time—images that will look as fresh and relevant 20 years from now as they do today. I balance classic, intentional posing with candid, heartfelt moments, capturing both the beauty and authenticity of the day. Above all, I want my couples to feel fully present and free to live in the moment.

How do you describe your creative approach?

I approach my work with a servant’s heart. From months of preparation—collaborating with wedding planners on timelines and curating a thoughtful shot list—I ensure we’re fully prepared to capture every meaningful detail. On the wedding day, my role extends beyond being a creative director. I’m there to fluff your dress, hand you a glass of champagne, calm your nerves, and make sure your most important people feel just as special as you do.

Beyond this, I believe that being deeply observant is key to my creativity. On a wedding day, it’s easy to overlook the small, fleeting moments that make the day truly special—but that’s where I thrive. My eyes are always scanning, always searching, ensuring that no detail or meaningful glance goes unnoticed.

Where do you search for new inspiration?

Inspiration is everywhere. From nature, fashion, and art to the quiet, simple interactions between two people in love. I find beauty in the ordinary, the everyday moments that make us human. Even the feeling a home evokes can spark creativity. There’s nothing I can’t draw inspiration from.

What is your favorite thing or moment to capture?

I love capturing people as they truly are—raw, real, and unapologetically themselves. The big, joyful smiles, the quiet tears, and every honest moment in between. There’s nothing more beautiful than people who let their guard down and allow me to see their genuine selves through my lens.

Team film or digital: What are you and why?

Team hybrid! I love capturing weddings using both digital and film formats. Digital photography is fast and versatile, perfect for catching those fleeting moments and the many moving parts of a single scene. It allows me to take more images, ensuring nothing is missed.

Film, on the other hand, brings a timeless, nostalgic quality to a moment. Its slower, intentional nature encourages you to truly pause and find meaning in what’s unfolding. I also love the imperfect beauty of film—it captures a moment exactly as it is, whether still or full of movement. There’s no fluff, just the authentic moment frozen in time.

Best advice for people who want really authentic photos?

Be yourself—fully and unapologetically. The only way to capture truly authentic moments is to embrace who you are without holding back. Don’t let the noise of “you should look this way” or “act that way” drown out how these moments make you feel.

How far in advance should people hire a photographer?

I would say 8-12 months to be safe.

Why are second shooters valuable?

Second shooters are an extra set of eyes, always on the lookout for those different angles and additional fleeting moments. They also give me the ability to be in two places at once, ensuring no part of your day goes unnoticed.

What do you wish more people understood about what you do?

Photography is about more than just creating beautiful images—it’s about curating a seamless, calm experience for my clients. Wedding photography is also incredibly physical! On any given day, I’m walking 10K steps, squatting countless times, and carrying 10-15 pounds of gear for at least 10 hours.

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?

A wine sommelier! Fun fact: I am a level 2 sommelier and provide wine consulting services for brides and grooms looking to find the perfect wines for their dinner menus.
