THE EXPERT INSTINCT

Romantic, Real, and a Little Rebellious: Christi Clark’s Style in Focus

With a romantic sensibility and just the right amount of edge, Christi Clark brings an unmistakable energy to her work as a wedding photographer based in Hilton Head. Her style is as emotionally resonant as it is visually striking—capturing unscripted moments, bold compositions, and all the heart between the frames.

Christi seamlessly blends film and digital to craft galleries that feel both timeless and current. Her approach is deeply collaborative—tailored to the rhythms, personalities, and stories of the couples she photographs.

In this edition of The Expert Instinct, Christi reflects on the power of intentional portraits, the continued magic of film, and why honest imagery always outshines trends.

Q&A with Wedding Photographer, Christi Clark

What is your signature style?

Authentic and romantic with a little edge! We love designs that push the norm.

How do you describe your creative approach?

We customize our portraits specific to our couples and their relationship. We love showing who our couples are in their best light.

Where do you search for new inspiration?

In fashion, venues, and through other artists.

What is your favorite thing or moment to capture?

We love the interactions between those our couples love the most. Grandparents, little ones and family will always hold a special place in our hearts for those candid moments.

Team film or digital: what are you and why?

Both! Film and digital both shine in different situations, there is just something special about film when the light is right.

Best advice for people who want really authentic photos?

Be yourselves, work with your photographer so they know your personalities and don’t pose you in ways that are unnatural to who you are.

How far in advance should people hire a photographer?

A year out! Most of my clients book me a year out, some more.

Why are second shooters valuable?

Second shooters offer a different approach both visually and artistically. They are free to get more of the small moments and can really create beautiful art.

What do you wish more people understood about what you do?

We work hard on the front in and the back end of the wedding. Preparing and editing, purchasing the right gear and preparing for the best day possible is what we love to do— but it is not only on the wedding day.

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?

A hopeful broadway star for sure! :)
